It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
